Each year distributing school supplies has it’s own unique challenges. Big questions have to be answered like, how many crayons do we need? How many kids in each town will have need? How many kids will show up? In reality, we make our speculated guesses about those questions. Yet, we make and implement our plans. This year four churches, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church of Ontario, Nyssa Nazarene Church, First Baptist Church Payette and Vale Christian Church, all asked to be involved. Three on the main date and one other with a separate date. They may have all been more excited about the process than us.

Around the same time, we wrote the grant to our local Wal-Mart that often provides a substantial support for this project. However, our overall fundraising was slightly less than years passed. We trusted that God would provide, but were uncertain how. Going into July, WICAP had collected a number of school supplies, including a number of backpacks. As we divided the total amount of supplies for each church this year, we knew we’d be short for Vale. We continued to trust and pray that there would be enough.

By the time, August 11th came, implementation was all that was left. The morning of the 11th staff delivered the last bit of school supplies to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and began the process of visiting each church. Along the way we took photos at each church. One young lady was visibly frustrated waiting in line. Stopping to take her photo caused her to smile and changed her attitude the rest of the day.
